Nice one. Microsoft and Google all are aiming for the bigger pie. when you can't create a world winning product anymore, you acquire a world winning product company. both of them have the cash to do it.

I think it's obvious. MSN is a footnote in the browser/personal portal race and Microsoft is beginning to realize that it's old model of client-side software doesn't work when you have competing products like Google Docs for free. The people who want high quality typesetting are looking for real typesetting applications and the people who want to write papers or collaborate on proposals are doing so online. Google Docs simply makes more sense. So Microsoft is clearly an anchor to Yahoo successfully catching Google. Google is simply too focused on the idea of products that work over bells and whistles for even Yahoo propped up by Microsoft $$ to be able to catch at this point.

Someone should notify them that you can't catch the leader by trying to do what they do. You have to invent something better.
